Walnut Square, located on the northwest corner of I-240 and Penn, boasts a 96% occupancy level. A big part of the centers success is the expansion of Wright Career College, the center’s longest standing tenant.
Wright Career College renewed their lease of 29,025 sq feet at the shopping center. Plans are underway for an extensive remodel of their space and are expected to commence in the last quarter of 2011.
In addition to renewing their lease within the shopping center, Walnut Square Shopping Center, LLC, headed up by Walter Morris, purchased a 37,814 square foot pad site in front of the property and is currently building a 12,525 square foot building for the career college. The building will primarily be used for new fitness programs the college offers and additional classroom space.
The building was designed by HSE Architects. Clyde Riggs Construction has started construction and anticipates the project to be complete in September of 2011.
